WAYNE CHARLES GAGNON Passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on December 6, 2017, 67 years old. He was predeceased by his mother Iris. He is survived by his father Maurice; sister Lynn; children Paul (Karen), Michelle (Corey) and Wayne (Crissy); grandchildren Bryce (Amber), Shane, Wyatt, Brook, Zenon, Virgil, Cora and Billy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dad was born 1950 at Health Sciences Centre, the year of the Great Flood. Maurice and Iris and baby Wayne moved to the farm in Ericsdale, MB. In the mid 1950s, after sister Lynn was born, they moved back to Winnipeg and then moved to Lockport where he made a lot of friends. After four years Maurice, Iris, Wayne and Lynn moved back to Winnipeg and his love for cars began and continued for the rest of his life. Through the 1970s Wayne did construction work and saved up enough to buy his own truck. He worked it for ten years with Motorways where he made lifelong friends. He decided to sell his truck and be a company driver. He found a job with Chabot Enterprises. In the early 1990s he left Chabot to go work at Motor Coach Industries driving truck until Direct took over. He went back to Chabot and was there until 2014 and then took an easier job as a parts driver up until recently. His love for his grandkids, cars, the Philadelphia Flyers was great. No funeral as per his wishes.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Maurice and Iris rented the suite in our home on Redwood Avenue in Winnipeg. They lived there for almost 8 years. I became friends with Lynn. I remember Wayne working on an old wreck in our back yard and talking about how he would get it running and was going to paint it candy apple blue. We didn't think Wayne would get that car running, but he did and he would drive it up and down the back lane at night, test driving it. The Gagnon family were our best renters and I remember Iris baking bread at least once a week and often inviting me upstairs for fresh bread and home-made beet jam. Iris also made the best peach pie. My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this most difficult time. Julia and Orysia send their thoughts and prayers to the whole family too. - Posted by: Natalie (Berschley) Hemingway (childhood friend of Lynn and Wayne) on: Dec 21, 2017
