He was born on June 11, 1948 in Winnipeg, to the late Jeanetta (Humpage) and J.J.F. (Jack) Bais. Bob worked most of his career in the commercial kitchen service industry, and owned and operated his own business in the Winnipeg area. In his younger years, Bob earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying as a hobby. Later his interests centered around motorcycle restoration and racing. He was a member of the Manitoba Road Racing Association, where he raced under the handle of "Old Timer" at the Gimli Race Track, where he made many good friends. So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Bob "The Builder" or Pops Baisimura breathed life into the MRA's Canadian Thunder race class by building most of the bikes on the grid. Bob built some truly great SV cheater bikes out of bits 'n pieces scrounged from ebay and online wrecking yards. I was very fortunate to have raced with Bob as a team mate in a few endurance races and against him in all the other races. But our best racing was always at the end of the day, once the bikes were up on the stands, and we'd relive the day's racing (our memories enhanced with a little liquid lubrication). Bob's "colourful" greetings, that could sometimes be mistaken for insults, will be missed in the pits. - Posted by: Rick "Rico" Helms (friend) on: Jan 02, 2018

Our condolences to the family. Bob was a long time customer as well as close friend. Always loved the times he would drop by the shop for a visit. We will miss his great sense of humour and positive outlook. He will also be missed by his many friends from the Manitoba motorcycle roadracing community. Wish we could have gone for lunch at the Sals just one more time to say a proper goodbye. You will be missed. Heather and Dave Fraser - Posted by: Dave Fraser (friend) on: Dec 20, 2017
