RICHARD MARTIN KORBAN
Born: Jul 26, 1960
Date of Passing: Dec 20, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD MARTIN KORBAN July 26, 1960 - December 20, 2017 Peacefully, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, at his home, God took Richard's hand at the age of 57. Richard was born in Winnipeg to Martin and Helen (nee Budzan). He attended Lord Wolseley Elementary School, John Henderson Jr. High and Miles Macdonell Collegiate. Richard worked briefly for the City of Winnipeg and after playing hockey in Australia for a brief stint, he returned to Winnipeg and decided to follow his father's footsteps and became a licensed embalmer and funeral director in 1984. As a man whose vocation put him always in the quiet shadows of hundreds of people often daily, he was the most private man whose family and whose home were truly his peace and his refuge. Like his father before him, Richard always expressed that we, his family, not list the gifts and talents we knew he possessed. We gratefully ask that our family, friends and colleagues remember all the special moments you have shared with Richard and keep them in your hearts and prayers. Richard will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife Donna; daughter Breanne; son Jay and daughter-in-law Sophia; his beautiful grandson Benjamin; mother Helen; sister Joanne (Gerry); brother Robert (Sheila); father-in-law Dave Melnyk; brothers-in-law Ken (Joanne) and Brian (Jillian), and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 22 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt Street, with His Grace Most Rev. Lawrence Huculak, OSBM and clergy of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg officiating. Respecting Richard's wishes and privacy, although he knew you would all love and support our family, he humbly requested his interment be private the next day. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Richard's memory to the LUBOV Foundation - Holy Family Home, 1085 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB R2W 3S1 or Holy Spirit Seminary, 1030 Baseline Road, Ottawa, ON K2C 0A6. I am saddened by this news of Richard's passing. I will not forget his incredible jumping ability in school sports. Richard was excellent in all jumping events back when. He was active in all sports and I believe pretty good in academics as well. He was a super nice person and I am glad we were friends. I will add that The Korban family seem to be equiped with bounding legs that can take them to angelic heights. May peace and love be with you all. Rest in peace Richard. You will be missed. Richard the quiet gentleman always giving of himself to others, with passion and Love. Always a kind word, and a warm smile to greet you. Always by Donna's side working and giving to others, sacrificing to comfort others. So proud of their children and grandchildren sharing their experiences to show their Love is endless. Our Love and Prayers are with you Donna and Family. - Posted by: Stephen Sumka (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2017
