ROMAN JAMES STOYKO It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roman on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Roman was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Anna; his brothers, Jerry and Robert; and his sister Vera Navis. He is survived by his beloved wife Jody; his children, Mark (Tannis) and Mindy (Richard) and grandchildren, Lena, Desiree and Tyson; and nephews, Richard and Michael. Roman was born in Winnipeg on May 27, 1934. He attended Argyle, Norquay School and Red River Technical College for plumbing and electrical courses. In his younger years, Roman loved performing with the Rusalka dancers and Royal Winnipeg Ballet, including many performances here at Rainbow Stage. He later on joined CBC working on costume/set design and puppeteering. Roman eventually worked his way up to producer and toured Canada with Hymn Sing. He also participated in Bomber/Jet games and many other productions. In his later years, he and Jody loved golfing (he more than she), spending time at the cottage, travelling to Barbados and spending their winters in Texas. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, 255 Oak Street at Kingsway, on Friday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one's choice. My deepest sympathy. I worked with Roman for many years, mainly on local newscasts. Roman was always a pleasure to work with, good-natured and easy-going. We shared lots of laughs, fun times and interesting conversations. - Posted by: Ms Frankie Glickman (CBC colleague) on: Dec 24, 2017

Roman was a lovely, thoughtful man with a great sense of humour. I worked with him at CBC through the years that Hymn Sing was on the air. He was always a bright light on the set and we all loved him. Sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Cynthia Laird Dutton (friend) on: Dec 22, 2017

Very sorry to hear of this. He was a very talented, funny and understanding man ( even when he was mad at us for all the things we did growing up ). He will be missed. Pat Scott - Posted by: Pat Scott (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2017

Roman brought such joy and laughter to our Hymn Sing family. He was a good friend and a real professional. I remember him so fondly and send my sincere sympathy to his family. Judy Pringle - Posted by: Judy Pringle (friend) on: Dec 21, 2017
