VINCENZA LISI 1934 - 2017 Suddenly on December 24, 2017, after a beautiful day celebrating Christmas Eve with her family, Vincenza passed away peacefully in her sleep. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Elio (Derna) Lisi, Angela (Jim) Pomarensky, Mike Lisi, Beatrice (Tony) Michelli, Etta Lisi and Dino (Charlene) Lisi. Mom's greatest joy was being a Nonna to her grandchildren: Wes, Megan, Diana, Gianna, Angelo, Daniel, TJ, Nick, Sydney, Alyssa, Noah and Bella. She took great joy in hearing about what they were up to in their lives and following their adventures on social media. She is also survived by her sister Franca (Peter and family) Miele who was such an amazing support to mom. Vincenza was predeceased by her beloved husband Sergio, by her parents Bernardo and Antonia, and her brother Franco. Mom's passion was cooking, especially for her family. She would often spend all day in the kitchen cooking up batches of pasta and she was always sure to make everyone's favourite. Mom's kitchen was always open and when she got the phone call "Nonna can I come for dinner?" her answer was always yes. She enjoyed passing on her recipes and was so patient in teaching us her traditional cooking methods. Mom fought a very long, difficult battle against cancer. She did so with a strength and courage that was inspiring. Mom was determined to spend Christmas with all her children and grandchildren one last time. She steadfastly refused any further treatment or any medication that would ease her pain so that she could be fully present and enjoy the time with her family. We consider ourselves fortunate to have had the time together all because of her fighting spirit. In accordance with Vincenza's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal memorial service will be held. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Riposa in pace. Ti vogliamo bene. "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." -Proverbs E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
