Orysia was predeceased by her father Wolodymyr (Walter) Bodnarchuk. She is survived by her mother Nina Bodnarchuk, her husband Nikola Prsa, son Christopher, sisters Lesia (Nelson) and Patricia (George), and her nieces and nephews, Oksana (Odin), Vlad (Svitlana), Taisa (Craig), Talia and Maxim; and by family and friends in Ukraine, Croatia, and the USA. Orysia attended school at Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. John's High, and West Kildonan Collegiate. She was employed for many years with St. James School Division, media department. She was very involved with the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) as a vykhovnytsia (counsellor), working with the youth. She organized weekly activities, summer and winter camps, always around to be with the members. As holovna vykhovnytsia (head counsellor), she worked tirelessly to inspire and educate youth. She was involved with the Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion during Folklorama. She touched so many lives with her smile, patience, and love. She loved animals, especially her dogs, Sasha, Nikki and Teemu. She loved her flower gardens, looking forward to the time she could get outdoors to plant hundreds of flowers, while her husband looked after the vegetable garden, working together to beautify their yard. She loved to cook and experiment with different foods, making great meals for her family and friends. She did not play any sports, but was a very avid watcher of all sports with her husband, especially soccer. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers that helped her through all the years as she battled her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ukrainian Youth Association Charitable and Educational Trust, 777 Pritchard Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0E8, or to a charity of your choice. Orysia started out at the Board Office as the receptionist - we knew her as Iris then - she brought her ukrainian heritage to play all the time - particularly when speaking to ukrainian callers. She worked in many departments from Accounts Payable, Purchasing and finally at the PSDC where she was able to use her artistic abilities as well as her keen sense of humour - she was a warm hearted soul and will be missed. - Posted by: Carol Polonski (Friend and co-worker at the St James Assiniboia School Division Head Office) on: Jan 03, 2018
