EUGENE FESCHUK June 10, 1946 January 4, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather after a brief battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years Linda, daughter Tammy (Peter) Crave and grandsons Ryan and Michael. Gene was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Rosie, and stepsisters Vicki and Lena. He is survived by his brothers Bill (Helen), Jack (Linda), Emil (Grace), Stan (Carol) and sister Margaret (Ernie) MacDonald, along with several nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn his loss are stepbrother Harold, brothers-in-law Dennis (Lesley) Pistawka and Roy (Francis) Ward, as well as many good friends and neighbours. Gene worked hard his entire life, first starting as a young man cutting pulp to later working in carpentry and construction. He was employed with the Province of Manitoba where he worked for 31 years, first at the Gimli Air Base, then later at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. After retirement, he spent most of his time fishing, hunting, and working in his shop. He was very creative and could always find a way to fix almost anything. One of his favorite pastimes was constructing his ice fishing "shacks". He took great pride in their construction, each one complete with a stove he would build from scratch. To Gene, his family was everything. He loved to go to the rink to watch his grandsons play hockey and took great pride in telling everyone about their accomplishments. He was always ready with a helping hand or advice to anyone whether you wanted it or not. Gene was always a private man, and so in accordance with his wishes there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place. A private gathering of family and friends will take place in the spring to celebrate a life well lived.
