VALERE LOUIS ALBERT MAEREN December 19, 1935 - January 5, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Valere Maeren, at the age of 82 years, following a brief, yet serious illness at St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, January 5, 2018. He was predeceased by his son David in 2004, and leaves to cherish his wife Carol, son Darryl, and grandchildren Jennifer, Justin, Chantel and Melissa. He proudly served as a Corporal in the P.P.C.L.I., then later was employed as an owner/operator at Unicity Taxi, before acquiring a position as Taxi Cab Inspector for the Manitoba Government until his retirement in 1996 after 22 years of service. His greatest passions were spending time outdoors while fishing and camping, as well watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was also an avid fan of Winnipeg Sports teams especially the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with his wishes there will be no funeral service.
