Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY M. HARVEY May 11, 1923 January 5, 2018 Sadly, we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and mother-in-law, Audrey Harvey. Audrey passed away in the presence of family in the early hours of January 5, 2018. Affectionately known as "Mama" by her family, she leaves behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, knowledge and love. Born in Calgary on May 11, 1923, to Jean and Herman Tritt, she was sister to Dick and Bill. Audrey grew up in River Heights and attended Riverbend (now Balmoral Hall) where she made many lifelong friends. Audrey met the love of her life, Herbie, while in her teens. They wed on February 19, 1944 when Audrey was 19. Over their 50 year marriage, they shared love, laughter and joy with many friends and family. Audrey was predeceased by son Paul and husband Herbie. She will be lovingly remembered by son Bill Harvey (Lori); daughter Joan McCorrister (Bob); grandchildren, Stephanie Hopkins (Travis), Evan Hopkins (Natalie), Jeannie Reimer (Trevor), Stacey Nickol (Jayson), Kelly McCorrister (Chris); great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Nolan Reimer, Olivia and Chase Nickol. Mama was a fabulous hostess who took pride in baking, cooking and entertaining. The family home on Moorgate was the neighbourhood hub for bridge night, dinner parties and friends of Bill and Joan's while growing up. Her home was welcoming. The cookie drawer and the candy jars were always full, just like her heart. Etiquette was foremost at family gatherings, an endearing trait that elicits fond memories. Her silverware was always polished, much like her nails. Mama had a strong character and generous nature. She always gave the most precious gift of her time to family, friends and those in need. Be it attending dance recitals, band concerts, baking birthday cakes, knitting blankets, lending a listening ear, chauffeuring her children and grandchildren and volunteering. Mama was warm, witty and kind; she always thought of others before herself and had the ability to make you feel truly special. Despite a long and full life of 94 years, Audrey's family has never known a life without her. We will miss her, but a piece of our hearts will be with her always. Thank you to Dr. Seema Shahzad for her exceptional care as Audrey's family physician. Dr. Shahzad showed a sincere devotion to Audrey and always took the time to listen, educate and ensure both her and her family's needs were met. We thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for providing care with such dignity and compassion. Audrey enjoyed the activities, conversations and friendships she made with the staff. Thank you for sharing your stories and hearts with her, she cherished these moments. The family invites Audrey's friends and neighbours to join us for a come and go reception to remember and honour Mama on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Breezy Bend Country Club, 7620 Roblin Blvd., Headingly, Manitoba. If you so choose, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
