DAVID JONES With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our father and husband, David Jones, on the evening of January 15, 2018, at the age of 64, with his family by his side, after an extensive battle with cancer. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Louise Jones (nee Bale) and his three children, David Johnson, David and Amanda Jones, whom he loved all so dearly. David was predeceased by his father Garnet and mother Martha Jones. David was born on May 7, 1953 and raised in Lockport, Manitoba. David's two loves were his work and his family. He always enjoyed time for family meals and long chats catching up with family and friends. Curious and inquisitive, David loved to travel and explore. He had a keen sense for adventure and would never pass on an opportunity to try something new. Whether it was a hot air balloon ride in Morocco or a car ride to Victoria Beach, there was always plenty for David to see and do. David was known for being late for just about everything but often because there was work to be done. In 1974, David started delivering newspapers for the Winnipeg Free Press and the Tribune to the Pine Falls area. Shortly after that he purchased a 1975 Ford Louisville. He hauled gravel for Lester's and Fraser's during the summer months and then hauled for Northland Freight on the winter roads. In 1981, he purchased a 950 Caterpillar loader which would mark the beginning of his snow removal career. Over the years David was very proud and fortunate that he had the opportunity to operate in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and finally last year in Ontario. He was happiest when busy at work but was always willing to lend a helping hand or share any bits of knowledge he could. David was active over the years teaching and mentoring many who passed through his shop doors and he cherished the many relationships he built over his 44 years in business. Special thanks to Dr. Kim and Elvira at the Victoria General Hospital for your caring attention over David's health. Thank you also to all the family, friends, employees, nurses and doctors who have helped David along the way. You all made his battle easier knowing that he was surrounded by people who truly cared. The calls, warm wishes and visits never went unnoticed by David and they always lifted his spirits. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be left at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Our family is saddened by the sudden loss of Dave. He was a great man who helped everyone. His kindness will be remember forever. He was often busy with his business but always offered his help when needed. From fixing our vehicles in his shop, and offering his pickup truck with a load we needed hauled. I asked him about retiring one day and he said he loved his work and keeping busy. May he be resting now after all his hard work. Our condolences to you Louise and family. - Posted by: Crystal Sather (Kindyball) (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2018

Louise, so sorry to hear about Davey's passing. We have so many memories of dad working with him, either on equipment or clearing snow. Dad lived working with him. I hope he was there to greet David when he arrived. All the hard times you've endured through this, and now your loss. Our hearts are with you and the children. - Posted by: ChristineGavel () on: Jan 18, 2018
