MARGARET JEAN WEISS (nee CALDER) February 19, 1929 January 19, 2018 Jean Weiss passed away peacefully after a courageous and painful battle with cancer, with family by her side at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre Palliative Unit, at the age of 88 years, on January 19, 2018. Jean will be sadly missed by her husband Archie, daughters Bev (Gerry) and Marlene, grandchildren Burke (Betsy), Drew (Kelsey), Leigh (Annette), Stephanie (Erik). Jean is predeceased by her parents, brother's Glenn, Ross, Keith and sister's Ethel, Jessie and Verna. Jean was born in Winnipeg and raised in Letellier. She married Archie on October 18, 1947 and they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Jean spent her life committed to her family and community. They farmed in the Dominion City area and in 1972 moved to Winnipeg where she and Archie provided dedicated service to staff and residents of Lions Manor stated to be the best years of their life. Upon retirement in 1985 to the Emerson community, Jean's life was devoted to making a comfortable home, cultivating her yard and flowers and nourishing anyone that knocked at their door. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Basta and the compassionate nurses and health care aides at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre. Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful support from neighbours, friends, relatives and community members. In keeping with Jean's wishes, a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean may be made to a charity of your choice.
