ROGER LERNOUT November 1930 December 2017 In loving memory of Roger Lernout who passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Concordia Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Ardith; daughter Lynda Sullivan (Dan), son Kevin (Debbie), daughter Ardith Parker (Will); daughter-in-law Cindy; grandchildren, Bradley (Ashleigh), Gregory (Judy), Cameron, Amber Haliuk (Josh), Adam Sullivan (Kaleigh), Zoe Martens (Travis), Kory, Chad, Brett, Kelly Parker, Sydney Parker, Emma Parker and great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Flynn, Olivia, Jaxson, Lincoln, Bentley and Merrick; his aunt Irene; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Madeleine; his son Richard; his brother Joseph and sister-in-law Vivian. Roger started his working career at Eaton's in the men's shoe department. From there he went to work as a baker at Richard's Bakery, the family business in Fort Garry, where he was able to showcase his artistic abilities by creating beautiful birthday and wedding cakes. After the business closed, he turned his knowledge of baking into his next career, working as a sales representative at Maple Leaf Mills and Soo Live Mills/ADM, helping others in the trade and retiring in 1995. Roger had many talents that he shared with others. He was a photographer: taking wedding pictures, artist: creating oil paintings, woodworker, leather crafter, hunter, dog trainer, gardener, coach and all around "Mr. Fix It." He enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends, playing cards, sitting in his backyard garden, visiting children and grandchildren, spending time at the family cottage at Grand Beach and travelling to various destinations. Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear. A special thanks to the staff on 3East at Concordia General Hospital for their care and compassion during dad's stay. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Our sincere Condolences to Ardith, Lynda, Kevin, Ardith and Families. I grew up living next door to Roger, my first cousin. He was like a big brother to me. Not only did I have my Dad teaching me, I had Roger who, like the obituary says, was always busy doing something of interest, from training Blackie, his dog, to making wine and beer. And, when we did not have a tool or piece of equipment , Roger usually had one to borrow. Thanks for the many times I needed the help. At Grand Beach, he took me for my first water skiing experience which I found was not my strong suit. One or the things we both shared was a love of photography, The pointers he gave me certainly were of benefit when I delved into wedding photography. There were many other fond memories, too many to mention. Our boys really enjoyed visiting with Roger and loved listening to his stories. They thought he was such a nice guy and we all loved him. Roger, you will be missed! God Bless you and your Family Ken, Sandy, Evan, Luke and Curtis Huyghe - Posted by: Ken Huyghe (1st Cousin) on: Feb 09, 2018
