PAULINE KING It is with great sadness that the family of Pauline Rhoda King announces her passing on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the age of 98 years. Mother to Elizabeth Rowe (Desmond), Judy (Mandy) and David (Stan), and "Gargy" to her seven grandchildren: Sarah (Bill), Christopher (Audrey), Richard (Karla), Rachel (Scott), Andrew (Coady), Ryan (Jennifer) and Neil (Karlee), and her nine great-grandchildren: Giandrey, Katelyn, Joshua, Anika, Jordan, Caila, Jack, Grayson and Ava. Pauline lived a full and feisty life determined to be active and passionate about all that life had to offer. Pauline loved her family and always enjoyed the saying "Love each other, for my sake." Pauline was one of five children, with siblings Charles, Vivian, Tony and Edwina. Pauline was predeceased by Charles, Tony and Edwina. Pauline was born on July 24, 1919 in England and after a successful career as a physical education teacher, chose to stay at home to raise her three children. When the children were older, Pauline opened up her own dress shop in England and continued to work in the fashion industry for her entire career. Pauline's sense of style, fashion and colour could always be admired by those around her. Pauline loved to be active and enjoyed many sporting accomplishments including netball, lacrosse, tennis, bowling and golf and continued playing bowling and golf well into her late 80s. Pauline managed to compete with the best of them until deciding that it was time to let the "younger generation" take over. She continued to always watch the sports that she loved and always had an opinion about a player and their game! Pauline was also a fanatic over the film The Sound of Music and had seen it almost as much as the combined ages of her great-grandchildren! Pauline especially loved babies and the little ones. The highlight of her week always included her weekly Wednesday afternoon visits with Katelyn and Jordan when they were small, and many trips to Edmonton to see her other great-grandchildren. Pauline spent the last few years of her life at the Deer Lodge Centre on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. Pauline was cared for so well by the doctors and staff and her family are extremely thankful for the care, love, patience and support that she received daily. Pauline received many visitors while she was at Deer Lodge Centre and we know that she loved and appreciated every moment that you all gave to her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the E.J. Coutu & Co. Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St., Winnipeg MB with Pastor Chris Bishopp officiating. We welcome you to enjoy some great memories and friendship with her family and friends immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, Pauline would love and appreciate to know that any donations made would be to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 to help them to continue to provide the exceptional care that they offer.
