PAUL (PALMER) GREGORY MOORE August 5, 1958 - February 5, 2018 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Paul Gregory Moore, age 59, in his home on February 5, 2018. He is terribly missed by his five siblings and their families: Cathy Moore (Terry Pearce, Galen), Sheila Klassen (David and Lisa) Eleanor Moore (Jim Hill, Meagan, Ben, Jodi and Claire), Christine Gillis (Keith Gillis, Webb, Mac and Finn), and John Moore (Laurie Mills). Paul is predeceased by his parents, Joan and Peter Moore and young nephew Andrew Klassen. Paul grew up in Winnipeg living all his childhood years in Crescentwood and attending school at St. Ignatius, Vincent Massey, St. Paul's High School and Red River Community College. He made many lifelong friends attending these institutions where he also fed his passion playing football and basketball. Once he hung up his high tops and cleats, he continued to champion the Chicago Bulls and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. As a young man, he quickly became part of the rich punk rock scene where he made a lasting impression. On stage he commanded attention with his intensity as a drummer and even more so with his high octane stage presence as a vocalist. Paul's fun loving spirit was infectious. He was well connected; drawing people to him with his easy friendliness and abundant high energy. For those in his inner circle he was a staunchly loyal friend. He maintained his long friendship with his high school buddy, Bruce Shaw, and despite the geographical distance between them, he considered Gary Owen to be both his best man and his closest friend. He always "had a guy for that" and nothing gave him greater pleasure than to take on a project or help out a buddy. All throughout his career, working first as a production manager at the Futon Factory, and later on as a stage hand through IATSE and in Winnipeg's Arts and Entertainment community, he maintained his close relationship with Ron Paley and The Ron Paley Big Band. Paul loved Ron and the band, and was grateful to Ron for taking an interest in him and employing a young unskilled worker. After some 35 years together, Paul remained devoted to Ron's work, and ran all the tech and set up for his shows. He will be deeply missed by his musician family. Paul remained close with Jennifer Hildebrand and her daughter Tianna, who he thought of as his own. He cherished his "Tianna days" and was proud to be part of her life, taking great pleasure in bragging about her and her accomplishments. His "brothers from a different mother", the Hamlin boys, David and Steve, and their parents, Bob and Ellen Hamlin, provided Paul with unconditional love, support and an endless supply of lake projects out at Dog Tooth that stoked Paul's need to putter, build, and boss people around. The annual kayak/ canoe trip departing from "the compound" was a summer highlight for him. Paul loved being in the outdoors and the time out at Dogtooth were some of his happiest times. Paul was taken from us far too soon. He lived life large and completely on his own terms.
