Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELMA FRIESEN Elma Friesen was born west of Gretna on February 2, 1934. She moved to Bergfeld with her parents and eventually to Winnipeg in 1960. She worked as a dental assistant for all her years of employment. She was baptized on May 29, 1956 and transferred her membership to Bethel Mennonite Church on July 19, 1967. Elma was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius and Helena (nee Heinrichs) Friesen and her six siblings: John, Jacob, Tina, Helena (Helen), Peter and Cornelius (Neil). Elma peacefully went to meet her Saviour on March 11, 2018 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her sister-in-law Lucy Friesen, 18 nieces and nephews, their partners and families. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the G4 Ward at Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and excellent care of Elma during her stay. The funeral service for Elma Friesen will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church with lunch to follow. Ash interment for family and close friends will be at the Altona Cemetery. Donations may be made to Bethel Mennonite Church with designation to Harrow School Reading Program or to Winnipeg Harvest. I volunteered with Elma for over 15 years at Misericordia Health Centre. She was a wonderful person. We became good friends. She phoned me a few months ago to let me know she had suffered a stroke. We spoke a few times after that. We always exchanged birthday cards so I had sent her one for her recent birthday.
