RENE J. L. BEAULIEU March 19, 1945 - March 11, 2018 It is with profound sadness to have to announce the loss of my high school sweetheart, soul mate and beloved husband, Rene, who passed away in my loving arms just one week shy of his 73rd birthday. I feel very blessed to have shared 48 beautiful wedded years with him. Survived by myself Wendy, our loving children David and Patricia, son-in-law Robert Houtkooper, and two very precious grandsons Matthew and Zachary; siblings: Paul, Leo, Therese, Louis, Marie, Jean (Michelle), Jeannine Du, Philippe (Rose) and Jeanne d'Arc (Craig Johnstone), as well as my brothers Colin McRae, Brent McRae (Barb), and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Bernadette, sister Madeleine, sisters-in-law Monique and Georgette, brother-in-law Dr. Joseph Du, baby nephew Claude, in-laws William (Bill) and Joyce McRae, brother-in-law Wayne McRae, and sister-in-law Sharon McRae. Rene was born and raised in St. Boniface. He loved playing his guitar and throughout his teens he was in a few rock 'n' roll bands. We were married in 1969 and started our young family a few years later. Rene decided to return to school where he obtained his B.A. at College Saint Boniface. He was employed at the CBC, retiring after 30 years of service. In addition to his family and music, his passion was the cabin that we designed and built with skills he had acquired from working with his very knowledgeable father. Rene always took great pride in a job well done. Rene was a nature lover and we enjoyed spending many hours at Birds Hill Park cycling, blading, skiing, and outdoor picnics. We vacationed in Mexico, Cuba, and Hawaii, but our trip of a lifetime was a cycling adventure in the South of France to celebrate our "25th" Anniversary. Mini vacations with family and much loved pets Phoebe and Yuki were just an hour away at our cottage where it was always a "beautiful day". There he enjoyed manicuring his "park" enjoying bonfires, guitar sing songs, star gazing and relaxing in the hot tub. Our family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at CancerCare. Special thanks to Dr. Dao and nurse Brittany's exceptional care for making an extremely difficult five year journey much more tolerable. Thank you to Health Sciences Centre E.R. staff and wonderful care -especially from nurses Anita and Chris on our last days there. We thank those who were able to gather during Rene's final days. We acknowledge those who were unable to be there in person and thank them for sending love and prayers his way. A private family celebration of Rene's life will be held at a later date. As per Rene's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to CancerCare Manitoba or Multiple Myeloma Canada would be greatly appreciated. Can’t be that two years have passed with you being gone I miss you terribly every day. I miss our phone conversation about the Blue Jays and Jets and still find myself just wanting to pick up the phone and call you. But I know that you are up there with my dog Bella and cat Bud and smiling down watching us. Love you Dad. - Posted by: David (Son) on: Mar 09, 2020

Over 20 years ago, I met Rene and Wendy for the first time with my father and Joyce. Over the years the friendship with Rene was always warm and friendly. His hard work and kindness towards me and my family was always very generous. I will miss his warmth and positive attitude towards life the most. His smile and generosity will always make me think of him as a good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Wendy and family always. My deepest sympathy to Rene's family. I worked with Rene for years and years at CBC, and enjoyed many chats. I remember how much he loved his wife and children , and enjoyed hearing about all the things his kids were doing as they grew up.His family was everything to him..... And of course, his work was excellent, but more importantly, he was wonderful to work with......definitely one of the good guys at CBC Winnipeg,.... Again, my deepest sympathy.
