ROGER ARTHUR DEFOORT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Defoort at the age of 81. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Annette; his son Danny (Barb); daughter Lynn (Rick); son Chris; his five grandchildren: Alyssa, Samantha, Alexander, Ian and Katelynne as well as one great-grandchild Owen. Roger was predeceased by his parents and one brother and sister. He is survived by his brother Harry. Roger was born in St. Boniface in 1937 and grew up in Edwin, MB. He rode his horse to school and checked his snare line regularly looking for the odd rabbit. He moved back to St. Boniface where he completed his Carpentry Apprenticeship. He met and married Annette in 1958 and built their first family home in Windsor Park; there they welcomed Danny and Lynn. In 1973 they moved to Dugald, MB and welcomed their third child Christopher. Dad loved to work in the garage, garden, build anything with wood, hunting with his nephew Don, and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. We have many great memories at the family cottage on McConnell Lake. In 1997, he retired from Structural Glass where he worked for 30 years. In 2001, they moved to Paradise Village where he enjoyed golfing in the summer. They also purchased a trailer in Yuma, Arizona and enjoyed 16 winters and golfing regularly. In keeping with Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street.
