IMMACOLATA CANTAFIO Immacolata Cantafio (née Staltari), born December 7, 1934. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, on March 20, 2018, in Winnipeg, MB. Imma leaves to mourn her passing, husband Gregorio; daughter Anna-Maria (Tony); sons: Dominic (Vivian), Mario, Paul, Robert (Trish); grandchildren: Brianne (Patrick), Nicole, Gregory, Gabriel, Dante, Spencer, Liam. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Antonio, Maria, in Italy, and Anna, in Winnipeg. Imma was born into a family of seven in Gerace, Calabria, Italy. Imma came to Canada in the mid 1950s by ship and settled in Winnipeg with her older sisters, Domenica Zinghini and Anna Franceschetti. Imma was a hardworking seamstress before starting a family. She loved cooking and all of our Christmases, Easters, birthday celebrations and Sunday dinners will never be duplicated but also never forgotten. Imma took pride in taking care of her family and always sharing laughs and stories with friends. Everyone she met became a part of her family. Imma will always be remembered as a selfless wife and mother, and always had a smile, even when times were tough. Mom had a quiet strength, and never complained. Her children find comfort knowing they now have an angel looking out for them from heaven. The family would like to thank Mom's lifelong special friends, Pina and Angela Radicchi. Also, the family would like to thank the medical staff that worked with Mom at the ICMS unit at St. Boniface Hospital, for their care and compassion during this difficult time. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church. Viewing and condolences begin at 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception downstairs in the parish hall after mass. Private interment to follow at a later date. Pallbearers will be Gregory, Gabriel, Mario, Raffaele Cantafio and Dante and Tony Palmisani. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Imma's memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
