DIANE BROWN (nee LABERGE) November 13, 1953 - March 15, 2018 With profound sadness, the Brown family announces the peaceful passing of our loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandma, Diane, on Thursday, March 15 in the Cardiac ICU at St. Boniface Hospital. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Dave, her daughters, Tawnia (Glen) of Portage la Prairie and Jessica (Jade) of Fargo, ND, her precious grandchildren, Mia, Kai, Krew and Cora, her sisters, Therese, Lucille and Jeanine, brothers, Bertrand, Claude, Roger and Laurent as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean Paul and Genevieve. Diane was employed in Winnipeg as a Legal Assistant for close to 40 years, most recently as Executive Assistant to the Chief Justice of The Court of Queen's Bench from which she had recently retired. Diane's greatest pleasure outside of being a wonderful grandma was her annual trip to Puerto Vallarta. There she could be found wandering the beach with a Caesar in her hand with Dave by her side. Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of the ICCS for their outstanding and compassionate care of Diane during her stay. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment to follow. As a tribute to Diane, please raise a glass of red wine and toast her. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Boniface Hospital or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Auntie Diane was always there for me. One of the most extraordinary ladies I have ever met. Always listening, always willing to help, great sense of humor, a love for all family and friends. I miss her every year. Love you! - Posted by: Stefan Landry (Nephew ) on: Nov 11, 2020

  • Only heard today of Diane's passing. What a loss to this world. I last saw her at the our 40th class anniversary and she was still the great person I remembered. Rest in Peace Diane, you are loved by many. - Posted by: Noel Martin (Friend of the family.) on: Apr 04, 2018

  • I met Diane when we moved to Elizabeth Rd. right across the back lane from Diane. We became friends immediately. Loved playing long hours outside. We even went to Beliveau School together, along with Georgette Poitras who lived right across the road from me. Once the girls moved onto Louis Riel School we had moved away where I went to another school. Unfortunately this was the last time we saw each other but I do have fond memories of her. Rest In Peace Diane, until we meet again. Lorraine - Posted by: Lorraine (Rémillard) Bérubé (Old neighbour and friend) on: Apr 04, 2018

  • I moved to Elizabeth Rd when I was in grade 2 and met Diane immediately since we shared the back lane right behind her. We had lots of fun in those days, always outside. Also met Georgia Poitras who lived across the street from me, all 3 of us became friends. Diane and Georgie moved on to Louis Riel and we moved away. That was the last time we saw each other. But I never forgot her birthday, Nov 13th, I may not have seen her, but she was always a thought. Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Lorraine (Rémillard) Bérubé (Grade school friend and old neighbour) on: Apr 04, 2018

  • I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Diane's untimely passing. I remember being so proud of her when, as a teenager, she won a pageant competition; I believe it was Ms. Congeniality or was she chosen as a princess? I'm sure her former school chums remember. It was because of Diane's joy, and learning she was a legal assistant, that I chose to enter the same profession many years ago. I can't believe she left us all, at such a young age. The world seems a quieter place now without Diane there to share her "joie de vivre". She was so vivacious, similar to her mother, Tante Genevieve. Our sincere condolences to the Laberges, such a lovely family. - Posted by: Monica Hofer (Cousin) on: Mar 27, 2018

  • Thanks, for the memory... we had so-o-o much fun together Diane! From skipping to cheerleading & dating, to birthing & loving & beyond. You are the "Wind beneath my Wings", my Bestest Friend EVER. Sleep well mon amie, until we meet again... Georgie xxxooo - Posted by: Georgie Poitras (Best Friend) on: Mar 26, 2018

  • Dave and family, we are so sorry and shocked to learn of the passing of Diane. Sending you all, our condolences and prayers. - Posted by: Geoffrey and Caren Fester (friends) on: Mar 24, 2018

  • Diane has been my goodfriend for close to 50 years. We were in the nursery together when we were born a day apart at St. Boniface Hospital. We were reunited in Grade 10 and she has been a very special part of my life since. She was in my wedding party in 1973 and I have so many fond memories it is hard to recount them all. I am shocked and saddened by her loss as I’m sure your whole family is. I last saw her in January before I left for Texas. As usual she was full of life and looking forward to your family vacation in Mexico. My deepest condolences to the entire family. She was much loved and will be missed. - Posted by: Janice Rees (Friend) on: Mar 24, 2018

  • I too grew up in Windsor Park. Diane was my classmate for the whole of our schooling, from grade 1 at Beliveau School to Louis Riel. I will always remember her smiling face and friendly spirited nature. So sorry for your loss and deepest condolences. - Posted by: Nicole Coulson (née Guyot) (school friend) on: Mar 24, 2018
