Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH ANNIE COURCHENE (nee PEEBLES) February 9, 1947 - March 20, 2018 It is with great sadness that we have to say our good-byes to our mother, nana, aunt, sister and friend on this day. Our mom, Edith Annie Courchene passed away peacefully on March 20 in the evening at Health Sciences Centre with her children by her side. She is predeceased by her husband Clem, her father William, mother Nancy, brother Bob, and grandson Jerome. She leaves to mourn her children, Kim (Rick), Vivian (Gord), Bill, and Ed; her grandchildren Lee (Vanessa), Clint, Jordan, Joshua, Jeremy, Miigwan, Catlin, Alexis, Ed Jr., Jada, Zach, Annabelle, and Lovely. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, her sisters Nancy, Flora, Janet (Hank) and Lillian (Allen), her brother Clarence (Yvonne) and numerous nephews and nieces. She was a matriarch to all of us (aka "General"). Her laughter was contagious just like her smile and hugs. She made an impact on everyone she met. She was always ready to help "take charge" with any event within the community. Always up for the challenge, reliable and could whip up a good bannock. Edith worked many years as a Community Health Worker until she suffered a stroke. With her strength she was able to recover and put in numerous years at the school as an elder, "aka BUG LADY". The family would like to thank all who took care of our mother through this ordeal. A great big thank you to the doctors and nurses from the MICU at Health Sciences Centre for your compassion and patience. We would also like to thank the Aboriginal Health Services, Hollow Water First Nation and out many family and friends for their support during this time. Wake services will be held at the Manigotagan Rec Centre (March 22 -24). The funeral, which will be held on Sunday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Manigotagan Rec. Centre. Interment will be held at the Anglican graveyard in Hollow Water after the service. Feast to follow back at the Rec Centre. Mom, you will be greatly missed by all. May you fly high with the eagles. Sincere sympathy to Edith's family. During my time in Manigotagan, Edith was a good neighbour and friend. Every time I made it back there, Edith always took the time to come and have a chat. Rest In Peace, Edith. You will be truly missed by family, friends, and your community. Dave Anderson & Alice (Lac du Bonnet) - Posted by: Dave Anderson (Neighbour and Friend) on: Mar 24, 2018
