GABRIEL ROMEO JOSEPH L'ARRIVEE April 15, 1930 - March 26, 2018 Gabriel L'Arrivée, aged 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Gabriel leaves behind the woman of his dreams, Cecile Léger, a musical force and whirlwind. They were successful in producing five amazing children, Louis, Raynald (Juliet), Robert (Darlene), Denise Klassen (Barry Wood) and Angèle Gagnon (Richard). Gabriel was also Pepère to 12 grandchildren and Grand-Pepère to five more little ones. Gabriel was renowned for a multitude of traits: from his varied carpentry skills, to stamp and coin collecting, to loving music and dancing (even though he didn't have an ounce of rhythm in his bones), and to just all around mischief making. He clearly was a man who loved to make people laugh and smile as he was a constant source of jokes and pranks. He was definitely a "character" to the end. Heaven will now be a little more interesting now that Gabriel has flown home to his Father. Gabriel struggled with health problems over the past three years. The family would like to thank the medical professionals at the St. Boniface Hospital, the WRHA Home Care Program, the Comforts of Home Care, Dr. Shokri; and most recently, all the incredible staff at the Riverview Health Centre. Donations may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Precieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny St., Winnipeg, MB. Eulogy and tributes will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to mass. LECLAIRE BROTHERS 475 Provencher Blvd., in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincerest condolences go out to all the family and friends who had the good fortune to know and share in the life of my uncle Gabe. He will be fondly remembered. Armed with a handful of jokes and big smile of his own, he freely shared his passion for living, profound joy of life and wisdom with all. You could not help but depart the engagement with a smile and a sense of balance, knowing that, through prayer and reflection, you could find direction. I will safely store my many wonderful memories in my heart and soul so I can carry them with me always. Paul L'Arrivee (and Family in Ottawa) - Posted by: Paul L'ArrivĂ©e (Nephew) on: Mar 29, 2018
