FRANK DE GRAVE 1934 - 2018 With great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather (Opa), great-grandfather, brother and uncle on March 28, 2018 at the Personal Care Home "The Poseidon". Frank was born in Indonesia and then lived in Holland since age 11. In 1966 he met and married his cherished wife Maria. They immigrated to Canada in 1967. Together they had six children. For 30 years they lived in Thompson, Manitoba, after beginning their journey in Ontario for 10 years. Working in Thompson as a carpenter he was liked by all whom he encountered. He joined the Knights of Columbus and was very active in St. Lawrence Church. He was a toastmaster and enjoyed performing in many skits. He played guitar and loved windsurfing. For many years Frank and Maria spent time in the winter in Florida, where they made lasting friendships. After retiring they moved to Winnipeg and were active in St. Emile Church. Frank is survived by his wife Maria, children Elizabeth, Karin (Jan), Francesca (Tino), Frank (Crystal), Bernadine (Brent) and Richard (Darcie), grandchildren Jessica, Alyson, Baileigh, Jesse, Sophia, Jaden, Trista, Jarrett and Tessa, great-grandchildren Duncan, Nomee and Deyon; also by his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the nurses and staff of "The Poseidon" Personal Care Home for the excellent care and compassion for Frank the last seven months of his life. He was loved by all staff and residents there for his big smile and "Hey!" for everyone around him. Frank was cremated per his wishes and a Celebration of Life will be held at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne's Rd. on April 7 at 1:00 p.m. A service will also be held in Thompson in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made in Frank's name to the Alzheimer Society.

I met Frank at Toastmaster. We’d go around the table introducing ourselves and ten years later I can still clearly picture his bright smile as he introduced himself. Every single time I saw Frank he brought a little piece of sunshine to my day. He was a beautiful person. My sympathy to the family. - Posted by: Amanda Simpson (Friend of Bernie) on: Apr 05, 2018

So very sad to hear of Frank's passing. I met Frank a few years back when he joined his daughter Bernie at our Toastmasters club at MTS Osborne and he was always so friendly and wonderful to talk to and brought so much wisdom to our group.
