Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRON STEVEN HALAYDA May 24, 1940 - March 30, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father. He will be forever missed by his children, Jayne (Borys), Lisa (Tyson), and Stephen (Quyhn); his brother Bob, niece Natasha, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Effie Halayda; nephew Anthony; and sister-in-law Shirley. Dad had a strong faith in God and was active in the Ukrainian Catholic community. Over the years, he was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Church and St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, but also made his rounds to Holy Eucharist and various other churches. He was gifted with a beautiful voice which he shared through cantoring services and singing with countless choirs including Hoosli, O. Koshetz, and Macenko choirs. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Shyshkowich council. Dad worked as an accountant for Manitoba Housing Authority in his earlier years and for Headingley Correctional Centre for over thirty years prior to retiring. He had an amazing work ethic and never took a sick day. Our Dad was a very sociable man and loved to talk to people whether he knew them or not, making friends wherever he went. He was known for his playful sense of humour and enjoyed teasing and joking with his family, friends and staff at Amber Meadows. He had a great affection for animals and nature, classic movies and tv shows, most notably the Lawrence Welk show which celebrated his love of music. He enjoyed reading and cheering on the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his two cats, Marvin and Gracie. He always had an amusing story to share about them. We wish to thank the Amber Meadows staff and homecare for their kindness and friendship. We also would like to express appreciation for the outstanding paramedics and staff at Seven Oaks and St. Boniface Hospitals. Funeral divine liturgy will be held at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Myron's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Iconostas Restoration project. A gentle and kind man. I had the honour of singing beside him for many years in the choir. His lovely voice reflected the depth of his faith and his big heart. Vichnaya pamyat -Dave Chomiak - Posted by: Dave Chomiak (Friend and fellow choir memberr) on: Apr 05, 2018

Dear Halayda Family! Our deepest sympathy to your family at this very difficult time of loss! Myron was a good friend to our late father Russell Luch and we all enjoyed his friendship when they were together singing in choirs, St. Joseph's liturgy masses and of course Kiev Pavillion! We have no doubt the Hetman (Luch) is forming his choir up in heaven with now Myron joining them!! What a powerhouse choir they must be!! Cherish the memories you have and always remember Myron will be in our thoughts and prayers! Stay Strong! My condolences to Myron's family and friends. I also meet Myron at Amber Meadows when I would visit with my Uncle Len and have lunch or dinner with them. He was a very kind and interesting man to listen to while we dined. I am grateful to have meet him in this life. - Posted by: Robbi Dalman (Niece to my Uncle Leonard Fisher, Robbi Dalman at Amber Meadows) on: Apr 04, 2018

When we moved my father, Leonard Fisher, from Brandon to Winnipeg to reside at Amber Meadows, we met Myron. He was such a breath of sunshine, and often joined us at my father's dining table. What an enjoyable man he was...such a positive and friendly person, and always a pleasure to chat with. Dad has also passed (Dec. 27th, 2016 ) but Myron lives on in our memories along with Dad & Mom. Our greatest sympathy to his family. ~ Gerri Rannie - Posted by: gerri @ rob rannie (Friend of my Father, Leonard Fisher, at Amber Meadows) on: Apr 04, 2018
