Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear that Chris has passed away. We were good friends when we were boys, playing on the river bank along Kingston Row and later Kingston Crescent, and also at Victoria Beach. He used to come and stay at our cottage, and I would stay with him in the city. He was wonderfully inventive and mischievous! When the Anderson family moved to the USA for a few years and then moved back to Winnipeg, the word that Chris was returning spread like wildfire through the school, and on the day he was expected to appear a horde of boys and girls were pressed against the chain link fence at Windsor School, excitedly awaiting his arrival. He was a fundamentally decent man, a good guy, and lots of fun. I will miss him. I am sorry that I missed the memorial, and I offer my condolences to Maryllis, Tim, and Cathy. – Jamie Conklin - Posted by: Jamie Conklin (Friend) on: Jun 26, 2018

  • I was 17. Returned from a high school skiing trip with my friend Jessie Davis and we went to Kingston Row where everybody was playing music and celebrating and being in a wonderful environment. Jesse and I could not get the snow out of our hair, so, we slid on tobbogans or something down the river bank. There were people all over the place and some semblance of food but mostly lots of music and visiting. Last time I talked to Chris about those days, about when his parents were away in Australia, (which was last summer at Keith's 2017), I said I hoped he didn't get in too much trouble for all of us being there. He said, well, once declared, Zap moved in...that was a laugh. Apparently, only a few things got broken and we'll always treasure those memories, of that place where Chris was a genius on keyboards. We had so much fun. I can never drive by the turn off to Kingston Row without thinking of the good times we had in that house. Now that Zap has moved out, and Chris is gone, we all have to move on. I can't stop thinking of my friend Chris and what a good man he was. I wish I would have given myself more time to spend with Chris. I hope can live to be a good person like Chris, with many hidden talents and much to share with the world. Bye for now, Diana - Posted by: Diana McGhee (friend) on: Jun 03, 2018

  • I had the honour of working with Chris on the Advisory for Funding of Schools committee as one of the education stakeholders. He was a very patient and kind man to work with and was a great benefit to the education system in Manitoba. He will be missed and not forgotten. - Naomi Kruse, Manitoba Association of Parent Councils - Posted by: Naomi J Kruse (Co-worker) on: May 17, 2018

  • I have known Chris as a friend and musician since I was a teenager. In the early 80's we played together in a band called The Big-Eyed Beans From Venus. We had many adventures. In 1988 he played at a cancer benefit for my late brother Roy Hodgson. It was called "The Shake On The Lake" and it took place in Minaki, Ont. In 1998 he again donated his time and musical talents for another cancer benefit in honor of my brother. It was called "Royfest" and was held at The West End Cultural Center in Winnipeg. In 2009 he performed at my wedding social at the Earl Grey Community Club. He was a good musician, a good band mate and a good friend. I loved the guy. - Posted by: William Hodgson (Friend and bandmate) on: May 05, 2018
