IRENE REITMEIER It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Irene, on April 12, 2018. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bev (Ron), Josie, Bonny, Barb (Dennis), Joe (Rachelle), Janice, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mom is also survived by her sister Jenny Lowe, a large extended family and friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband Joe; her parents, Maria and Emerick; her brothers, Oscar, Ed and Robert; her sisters, Elsie and Margaret; and her grandson Matthew. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg. For many years she was employed at Wilson Auto Electric, where she made many lifelong friends. She loved spending time at the lake with her family, visiting Las Vegas and taking bus trips to Shooting Star Casino. Her favourite pastimes included playing cards, puzzles, line dancing and weekly Bingo nights. In the summer, Mom loved spending time in her yard enjoying the sunshine. Mom was a kind and compassionate person, devoting her time and life to her family. Mom enjoyed regularly attending services at St. Alphonsus Church. Her strong faith gave her comfort and strength. Mom moved to Concordia Village, where she enjoyed numerous activities, such as attending church services, concerts and visits with her friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cherished every moment with them. Mom found immense pleasure being surrounded by her family. Our mom was a caring and gentle person who will be greatly missed. A private family funeral service has been held. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • It is today (May 18) that I was told (by Tillie Orloff of B.C.) that Irene has passed away. My deepest, sincere condolences go to all her children and family. It seems just yesterday that I met this lovely lady. Irene was very proud of her children and later down the years had good things to say about each of them . Her bingo days gave many a smile by those who were around her. To me she always had that smile that made you feel welcome in just her small little comments. It was Irene, Tillie and my mother (with few others ) who were the Bingo Outlaw Gang for several years in the East Kildonan halls. What a lovely lady and she will be missed by many. God Bless her and her children. Doug Mymryk - Posted by: Doug Mymryk (Past Friend ) on: May 18, 2018

  • Our condolences to the Reitmeier family. Irene always had a smile on her face, When she walked by the house on her way to church she would stop and talk if I was outside or wave if I was sitting inside. She will always be with you in your hearts. - Posted by: Miranda and Walter Romanyshyn (friend) on: Apr 24, 2018

  • Will always remember my Auntie with a huge smile on her face and her caring ways. Forever in my heart. - Posted by: Mary Glenister (Niece ) on: Apr 22, 2018
