MARY PATRICIA MACKINNON February 10, 1919 - May 1, 2018 With her typical grace and strength of spirit, Mary MacKinnon (Eichel) passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg on May 1, 2018. Mary is the last survivor of six siblings who were raised on the Eichel family farm near Eston, Saskatchewan. Mary will be sadly missed by her daughter Donna, grandson Douglas, granddaughter Maxine, daughter-in-law Sylvie, and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving son Bruce, and infant son Bryan. Mary was a proud graduate of the Winnipeg General Hospital nursing program, Class of 1943. Mary and her family moved to many locations in Canada, France and the United States. Throughout this time she actively maintained her professional career and kept in touch with her nursing friends and classmates. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service, and to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice. At Mary's request, there will be no funeral. A private celebration for family will be held at a later date.
