RAYMOND BEAUCHEMIN February 17, 1943 - April 29, 2018 Peacefully, Ray passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, in his home at Hillside Beach. He was predeceased by his mother Armelle, his father Marcel, his brother Ronnie and his nephew Rory. He leaves behind his beloved partner Megan and his furry little friend Skye "his little Pita"; daughter Rachael (Dan); son Dana (Michelle); sister Marcelle (Chris); nieces, Kim and Brandie; nephews, Shawn, Chea and Joshua, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Ray was born February 17, 1943, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family moved to Churchill, Manitoba in the late 1940s. He was very athletic as a teenager, excelling in football and hockey. Ray began a career in Churchill working for Pan Am at the Churchill rocket range. When he left Churchill he worked in several managerial positions for various companies in Alberta. Later in life, he decided that he wanted a more adventurous existence and became a long-distance truck driver, which brought him from coast to coast in North America. He had finally found his dream career. He was a bright light in the lives of the people who loved and knew him. He loved to make people laugh and he did that every chance he got. He was the personification of "joie de vivre". He will be greatly missed. A celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to join us for a gathering at the Birchwood Hotel in Traverse Bay, MB at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date. E.J.COUTU & CO. Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • Our deepest sympathies to Megan and Ray's family. We are going to miss Ray's visits as he used to make his way through the path between the bushes of our cabins. Ray would come over even if we weren't there and party with our kids. Conversations were interesting and many laughs were had....He always had a joke or two. Ray LOVED life! Going to miss you Ray! RIP! Love Russ and Donna - Posted by: Russ and Donna Kutzak (Neighbors at Hillside Beach) on: May 15, 2018

  • John and Ray had been long time friends as they had many things in common. They worked hand in hand at the Noble plant for many years but hung out together after hours socializing with other friends who worked and lived in Nobleford. "On June 8, 1985, The crew of the Rubie Queen ll (Sternwheeler) set forth its jaunt to Batoche, Saskatchewan with Skipper Bob Bechett, Ray Beauchemin, John Bains and Jim Lynn." I, Colleen Bains (nee Hunter) met my husband John Bains because of Ray as the two of them where in the York Hotel one afternoon. My sister Gwen and I went in for a quite drink and Ray spotted my sister. He wanted to dance with her but she was somewhat sceptical and would not dance unless I was able to go out and dance too. Ray took us to his table, where John and him where sitting and told John to dance with me. We did and although Ray and Gwen did not get together; John and I have been married for 30 years. Memories - Thanks Ray Very sorry to Megan and all of Ray's family. - Posted by: John and Colleen Bains (Long time friends) on: May 09, 2018

  • Our condolences to the family and especially to Rachael and Dana who we knew when they were kids in Lethbridge AB. I worked with Ray at Noble Cultivators from 1975 to 1987. He had started work as a graduate from SAIT as an Industrial Technologist and I was a fresh engineer. Ray managed the production operation of about 170 employees. We soon became friends, his easy going nature was fun to be around and just drew others to him and from then on was known as "The Beauch". Ray built a house in Nobleford and lived a short walk from the plant. As a team building exercise he was one of the key players in constructing a big paddlewheel boat which was designed to navigate the Oldman River in a race from Lethbridge to Medicine. He found an old car engine and many other materials and was a major force in leading the construction of the boat, which was no small feat. Ray turned boat building frustrations into fun and especially during the maiden voyage of The Ruby Queen which named after the street he lived on in Nobleford. We lost track of Ray after moving back to Winnipeg in 1987. In 2003 we had just finished building a cottage at Victoria Bay Estates just north of Hillside and one Saturday, I had run out to do some errands and returned to find a bottle of beer on the porch table with a note , "the Beauch". He was just that kind of guy, full of surprises! - Posted by: Ken Lenton (Friend) on: May 09, 2018

  • Please accept condolences from myself. My parents Fay and Blair Kyffin (both deceased) were long time friends of Frank and Armelle. As a teenager I babysat Dana and Rachael when the family lived in Churchill. Rest in Peace Ray. - Posted by: Debbie Bertram (nee Kyffin) (Family friend) on: May 08, 2018

  • All the best to the Beauchemin Family from the McKee Family. Our families had some great and memorable times together in Churchill Manitoba. Our parents had so much fun over the years as did us kids with them. It was constant pranks and laughter. Never to be forgotten. Rest in Paradise Ray.... - Posted by: Linda Mckee (Friend of Family) on: May 07, 2018

  • We just moved in next door at Hillside Beach last September and shortly after being there, Raymond welcomed us to the area with fresh tomatoes from his garden. We’re sad not to get to know him, but from our brief meeting with him we can tell he was a genuinely nice guy and happy to have him and Megan as our neighbour. Our deepest condolences to Megan and family. - Posted by: Janna & Scott Thomson (Neighbour) on: May 06, 2018

  • I played hockey with Ray in Fort Churchill in the mid '60s. I was just a teenager as were a few of us who played on the Churchill Research Range (CRR) team. Ray was the captain of the team. I always thought he was a great guy and, despite being one of the biggest guys in the league, he was, in fact, a gentle giant. He was great on the ice and great in the dressing room. Being an "anglo" like many of us on the team, I never learned, or even asked about, the actual spelling of his name. To me and the others, he was "Ray Bushman." I really liked him. He was a good guy. - Posted by: Roy Marsaw (Hockey Teammate ) on: May 05, 2018
