Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I first met Denis in Montreal in the 1970s as his first officer on the DC-9. It was a real pleasure meeting another Saskawanian so far away from the wonderful prairies. Always a gentleman, so easy to talk with..usually with references about growing up in small town/rural Saskatchewan. As we both made the "upward" move to the "peg", we bumped into each other several times..more reminiscing. We made Saskatoon our domicile from which I commuted to Toronto for 25 years. But, somehow, Denis and I made contact and as it turned out, we were able to entertain and offer a dinner to Denis, Jo, and his brother, Lionel one fine summer evening. So, we drift apart, however, great memories to cherish, both for us and all those he leaves behind. Yes, indeed, he is missed. - Posted by: Lynn Bryngelson, retired Air Canada pilot (friend) on: May 22, 2018

  • I enjoyed working with Denis at Air Canada...during my 26 year career in Winnipeg....and he was always most professional and considerate ...a real pleasure to have on the crew for our many flights together... - Posted by: Connie McCormick (Colleague at Air Canada) on: May 15, 2018

  • I had the pleasure of flying with Capt. Hamonic many times on the DC-9 while based in Winnipeg. A true gentleman and mentor. • So sorry to hear about Dennis's early departure... My sincere condolences to the Family and friends.. Dennis is a real gentleman and always was, even when flying Line Incoc flights with a Pilot who parachuted in from Toronto. He was a real help and I've tried to emulate his excellent pilot skills ever since. On layovers, he was always jovial, friendly and ready to help his trainees to relax and enjoy a few brewskis with him.. I have fond memories with Dennis and am sure that he is looking down on us encouraging us to have a few in celebration of his wonderful life.. Regretfully, Chuck.. - Posted by: Chuck Almasy (Air Canada Colleague, now living in Florida.) on: May 07, 2018

  • I was so saddened to hear of Denis's passing. I met Denis and Jo at Bell MTS Place when they were season seat holders for Jets games. Over the next few years we discovered all sorts of fascinating connections between our families. We even ran into each other at the airport in Montreal one time. My sincerest condolences to Jo and her family. - Posted by: Lori Gillespie (Friend) on: May 05, 2018
