BETTY OSTEN / CONN Betty Osten (nee Lowes) of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully May 4, 2018 at the age of 90. Born July 27, 1927 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Betty was predeceased by her loving husbands, Venard Conn (1974) and Murray Osten (1996), her parents, Samuel and Annie May Lowes, and all of her six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her three children, Judy Conn (Joe Conan), Doug Conn (Teri), and Phyllis Corriveau (John), as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Betty grew up living over the Star Bakery in Weyburn, which her father owned. She loved sports, participating in skating, swimming and diving, and later curling and golfing. She enjoyed watching football and remained a lifelong Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. She had a keen interest in fashion and worked in various clothing stores and as a buyer and model over the years. Betty married Venard Conn in 1952, and with his CPR career they lived in Regina, Souris, Brandon and finally Winnipeg, where Venard passed away. In 1982 Betty married Murray Osten and moved to Chilliwack, spending winters in Arizona for some years. After Murray's passing, Betty returned to Winnipeg, where she lived for the remainder of her life, at the Courts of St. James, Dakota House and Golden Links Lodge. She appreciated all the staff, home care, family and friends who were kind and assisted her in her later years. Betty had an unwavering faith in God, and was a faithful parishioner wherever she lived. She sang in church choirs and served on various committees over the years, as well as being a generous supporter of the Salvation Army. Betty loved her family unconditionally and took great delight in her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed celebrating her 90th birthday with her family last summer, leaving us with many happy memories. Her family takes comfort that she has entered Heaven's gate, but will miss her dearly. Sorrow is not forever, love is. A private family service will be held. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning - Psalms 30:5
