LIONEL FOREST April 5, 1933 - May 5, 2018 Lionel Forest passed away peacefully, at the age of 85, on May 5, 2018. Left to cherish his memory are Pauline (Gratton), his wife of 61 years, daughter Lisa Rostecki (Royce), grandsons, Logan Rostecki, and Dylan Forest, granddaughter Kyra Forest, brothers, Roger (Jeny) and Edward (Jo Ann), sisters, Terry Placktis and Georgette Manson (Ian), sister-in-law Arlene Forest, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Theophile Forest and Aurelie Forest (nee Hamel), son Michael, and brothers, Phil, Danny and David. Lionel led a successful career in management at C.B.C. from 1955 until 1988, spending 11 years in Edmonton and the rest in Winnipeg. Like his career, God and the church were an important part of his life. Lionel served as a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years. Lionel enjoyed the outdoors and in better health loved to fish, hunt and bird watch. Lionel was also an avid golfer for most of his life; golf being one of his great passions. His most notable achievements in the game were two holes in one. He loved to cook and celebrate with his family and friends. Lionel held dear the moments when he and all who he cared for could dine, celebrate and reflect on the good times in life. One of Lionel's most frequently used quotes was, "If you're going to do something, you might as well give it your best". The family gives special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at Foyer Valade. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15 at Mary, Mother of The Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg.
