FREDERICK CHARLES MILLER Frederick, affectionately known as Fred, Dad or Grandpa passed away peacefully at 92 years of age, with family at his side, in Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on May 5, 2018. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Clara (nee Zierk) in 2011; his parents, Harry and Agnes; brothers, Ronald, Horace, Leonard and Percy; and sister Gladys. Dad was born in Brandon, Manitoba on February 19, 1926 and he moved to Winnipeg. On a weekend holiday at Winnipeg Beach he met the love of his life Clara whom he married in 1946 and raised a family. Dad will be loved and remembered by Fred Jr. (Terry), Judy Muller (Ron); three grandchildren, Paul (Tina), Cheryl (Bill), Karen (Sean); and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah, Thomas, Sarah and Adam. Dad was always busy and took pride in doing his own repairs on his cars, around the home and cottage. He and Mom loved to play cards and games. For many years they bowled in various leagues together, and Dad was an avid curler. He loved CFL football and followed curling. After Mom passed, Dad continued cruising with Judy and travelling with Fred and Terry. Dad and Mom both shared a special relationship with Gull Lake, MB for close to 50 years. Initially they camped in a trailer in the campground to owning their property on the lake. The Miller family cottage brought joy to them, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We all have cherished memories of being there with Dad and Mom. The Miller family had a strong military history which Dad carried on with pride. During the Second World War he served with the RCAF until honorably discharged. He reenlisted but this time with the Canadian Army Ordnance Corps and retired after 26 years of faithful service. Dad served his country honorably having tours of duty in Korea, Japan he also served in Egypt and Cyprus as a United Nations Peace Keeper. Dad, when appropriate, proudly wore and displayed the nine medals he earned during his time with the Armed Forces. He retired in 1972 and began a new career with Standard Aero Engine, where he continued to interface with the Canadian military. He retired again in 1990.
