Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGETTE BLAIS (née COURCHAINE) November 8, 1923 - May 9, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be remembered by her children, George (Claudette), Gilberte (Bill), Laurette, Donald (Darlene), Monique, Marc (Vicky). She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Mario, Karlee, Jason, David, Renee, Cory, Chris, Charlene, Melanie, Ashley, Marc Jr. and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Rene and grandson Todd. Mom was born in St. Norbert to Oscar and Emma Courchaine. She attended school at the convent in St. Norbert and often had to take the ferry across the Red River. Mom and Dad married on August 30, 1941 and were together for 71 years until his passing in 2013. Mom worked in the hospitality industry as a waitress in numerous establishments in Winnipeg. She worked very hard and was good at everything she did including her hobbies: sewing, crocheting, knitting and making cakes. Mom was a very positive and loving individual who did her best to make everybody feel welcome. The door was always open for a cup of tea, dainties and a good visit. In her later years, Mom developed Alzheimer's and resided at Foyer Valade. We wish to thank all the staff for doing such a great job of taking care of her at this time. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgette's memory may be made to Actionmarguerite Foundation. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

My deepest condolences to the family and my friend Laurette - it's been many many years since I've seen Auntie Georgette except in recent pictures and I must add that she didn't change much from her youth - she was still recognizable from her pictures. Again my sympathies to all the family in their loss - may she rest in peace. - Posted by: Annette West (niece) on: May 12, 2018
