I have a very happy memory of my Cousin Peter. I was just a young person many years ago in Narol, Manitoba when my father Mike Yakimovich and mother Eva (Petrynchyn) would ask him to help with our vegetable and grain harvest. Peter would always oblige. He made time to come to our assistance no matter how busy he would be with his own responsibilities. He was always there for us. When the hard day's work was finished, Peter would still have the energy to lift me up on his big shoulders and walk me around the yard. He never complained, and I felt safe and proud to be treated in such a nice manner. When I was older I remember being invited by him and Cousin Carol for dinner at their home. They were great people that displayed a sincere love for our family. I'm pleased to have had them for cousins. Thank you Peter and Carol, you have been an inspiration to me and showed me that kindness is a virtue. In talking with my two sisters, Helen Oneschuk and Rose Stemkowski, they both remember the friendly, happy cousin Peter, and Helen thanks him for teaching her how to drive a stick-shift truck.
