MICHAEL ZUROWSKI
Date of Passing: May 10, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL ZUROWSKI With his three daughters by his side, Mickey left this world on May 10, 2018 to join his cherished wife Eleanor in heaven. He had missed her greatly since her passing. Mickey was a devoted, loving and compassionate father, grandfather, great-grandfather, family member and friend. Left with countless glorious memories are Mickey's daughters: Lorraine (Tony) and her children, Matthew (Katherine) and Ashley; Katherine (Michael) and her children, Jade (Brandon), Mikaela and Luke; Diane (Trevor) and their daughters, Camille and Chantal; treasured great-grandchildren Rose, Nora and Clive; brother-in-law Donald (Melene); nieces, Julie (Ryan) and Laura (Frankie) and son Jace; niece Evelyn and family; and sisters, Barbara and Donna in San Diego. Mickey was born in Czortkow, Poland in 1931. As a child he was taken from his family, imprisoned in Germany and endured the devastation of the Second World War. He came to Canada with his parents when the war ended and Winnipeg became Mickey's new home. He later married his one true love Eleanor. Together they spent 65 years creating a magnificent life with family and friends. Mickey adored and was so proud of his three daughters and in turn he was their first hero, they were Daddy's girls. Mickey worked hard for his family and was employed by CN Railway for 45 years before retirement. Mickey was a history expert who spoke five languages. His joke telling was impeccable. There was nothing he could not build, repair or create. He was the first one to arrive when help was needed. His heart was huge. As an avid hunter, fisherman and mushroom picker Mickey thrived best in the outdoors. He would portage for days and was most content sleeping beneath the brilliant sky and stars where he would recite every constellation. Mickey was a master at growing one of a kind tomatoes and so generously shared his produce by driving around the city to make deliveries to delighted family and friends. Joyous memories were made camping at the Big Whiteshell and at the cottage at Blacks Point. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Lori and Tony where Mickey was residing, to Marshall for his incredible care, and to the friends that visited. Honouring his wishes, we will celebrate Mickey's life with a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Ronald McDonald House or your choice of charity is appreciated. "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever."

Mike was a good friend of my Dad Russell Orr where they worked together at CNR. Mike came to my Dads funeral many years ago, when I was a little kid Mike taxidermed a fish that I caught when we went fishing up in a place called Robertson Ontario. We would all get on a freight train and they would drop us off in the middle of know where and we would hike to a cabin and stay and fish for a few days. I still have the stuffed fish hanging in my garage with his signature on it. I was looking at it today and thought about him and looked him up and found this add. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a great man and as a little kid he treated me like his own. That was so long ago. I’m now 62 and still remember him. I was trying to include a picture of the fish but don’t know how. Anyway all the best to his family who I haven’t met but I’m sure you have allot more memories than I do of a great man. On a lighter note I asked him at my dads funeral “whatever happened to the meat from the fish you stuffed for me?” He laughed and said “I ate it” he made me laugh at my dads own funeral. What a guy the way my dad would of wanted it. P.S if you ever want to see a picture of the fish he stuffed for me text me at +14038757700. All the best. - Posted by: Lloyd Orr (Friend and fellow work mates of my Dad at CNR) on: Nov 14, 2019
