To the Brownscombe family, :I got to know Hilary years ago at the Toastmistress Group at Vincent Massey. I remember many great conversations but unfortunately we lost touch. It was sure nice to meet Hilary again at the Rendezvous Club. We happily chit chatted about the good times we had at Toastmistreses. Rest in peace Hilary. Hello Brownscombe family, sorry to hear that Hillary has left us. I was her bus driver that took her to Rendez-vous for about 4 yrs. I met one of the daughters at Deer Lodge when she was recovering from an injury, but she did come back with for a couple more years. Rest in peace Hillary I will miss our conversations. - Posted by: thomas hiebert (her bus driver (rendez-vous)) on: May 25, 2018

Rick, Melanie and Marina.....sincere condolences on the loss of your mum. I remember babysitting all three of you back in the early 60's when our families were next door neighbours on Crescent Dr. Your parents were kind, interesting and fun people. Your mum set me up with my first penpal......a niece of hers in England. Also it was very special that our mothers remained close friends for many decades.....long after we (the next generation) had all grown up and moved on. I hope that many happy family memories will bring you and yours comfort in the days ahead. - Posted by: Cheryl Norton (Thould) (Neighbour) on: May 23, 2018

My first memories are of babysitting Rick, Melanie and Marina on Crescent Drive and then Kebir Place. Both Hilary and Bill were so kind and fun-loving...even when I fell asleep on the job! I had a major scary health issue in my early teens which resulted in a couple of weeks of hospital care. Hilary sent me a card signed from a "secret admirer" to bring my spirits up. Though I recognized her hand writing and I knew who it was from...it was still very special. Hilary also connected me with a British pen pal when I was 13 and despite the distance and the years, Jenny and I have gotten together several times in Canada and Britain and still stay in touch 55+ years later. I also enjoyed golfing with Hilary in a seniors league at Wildwood after I retired. One very wonderful person. I will miss her. To Rick, Mel and Marina, My sincerest condolences on your loss. Mrs B was a wonderful, kind lady. In all the years we grew up as next door neighbours, I can't recall even one instance where she "lost it" with us, even though we probably deserved it. In recent years when ever I'd run into her, she always had time for a chat and was genuinely interested in whatever was happening in my family. "Mrs B.. I'm sure Hil has been waiting impatiently to have you over for tea. There's probably a lot of neighbourhood news from the past 8 years she wants to catch up on."
