RAYMOND EDWARD SMITH 1950 - 2018 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Smith (Stingray/Captain Ray), on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the age of 67 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was predeceased by his father Gerry Gamelin and mother Doris (Clement), brother Reynald Smith and sister Claire Smith. He is survived by his children, Sheila, Roger and Richard; grandson Ryley; his brother Leo and his sister Diane; his extended family and the mother of his children Lea (Hupe). He was a great auto-body mechanic, hard worker and took pride in his trade. He also enjoyed playing baseball, golf, darts and pool but truly love to sing with the many bands that played at the Nic. As per his wishes a cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 23 in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a gathering of family and friends. The family would like to express extreme gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their loving care of Ray. In lieu of flowers donations in Ray's memory may be made to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
