ANDREW KARNAFEL January 21, 1921 - May 14, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Andrew on Monday, May 14, 2018 in Regina, SK, at the age of 97 years. He was formerly a long time resident of Winnipeg, MB. Andrew was predeceased by his beloved son Leonard in 2014; parents, Michael and Maria Karnafel; brothers, Joseph and Steve; sisters, Terry Enns, Ann Tanguay, Kay Gelata, and Margaret Chongva; as well as all his brothers and sisters-in-laws. Andrew leaves to mourn his loving wife Yolana; daughter Connie Doss (Charles); grandchildren, Ariel Haug (Sven) of Gravelbourgh, SK and Braden Doss (Nicole) of Regina, SK; great-grandsons, Dominic Doss and Oslo and Bridger Haug; cherished niece Eda Bannerman and her family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. Andrew was born in Tvarozna, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia) on January 21, 1921. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1937, residing in Winnipeg until his move to Regina in 2017 to be close to his daughter and family. Andrew married Yolana (née Wajcner) in 1946 and together celebrated 71 anniversaries! He worked with his downtown Eatons family for almost 40 years, retiring in 1986. Later years restricted Andy's mobility and profound hearing loss limited his social and physical activities. In earlier days, he enjoyed music, drives in the country, and visiting with family and friends. When the social occasion presented, Andy also loved to dance and sing, he had a lovely voice. He had a ready smile and charm that endeared him to us all. We will always love you and miss you so very much, however we know you are at peace and now in a better place reunited with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Winnipeg, MB, with interment at Thomson in the Park Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Those wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 919B Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2P6. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Dearest Yolana, Connie, Charlie, and family, although you’ve seen this from me before, please, I humbly offer you this at this intense time. I think Andy would concur: —A Step on the Road to Home— “When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little—but not too long, And not with your heads bowed low, Remember the love that we all shared, Miss me—but let me go. This is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone, It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, Bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me—but let me go.” — © 2001 Camilla Marie Stewart, S.F.O. — © 2001 Calvin Earl Mark Kendall, S.F.O. - Posted by: Calvin (Nephew) on: Aug 08, 2018
