MARION MCGREGOR We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, early in the morning May 19, 2018. Mom was born March 31, 1922, first daughter of Ed and Mamie Chant. She attended Macaulay school and worked side by side with her dad, until she met and married her husband of 42 years, Doug McGregor. They moved to a farm close to Pratt, Manitoba where two of their three children (Betty and Terry) were born. They farmed there until they purchased Mom's family farm in 1954 where they later welcomed their third child (Cindy). They continued to raise their family and farm until Dad fell ill and they built a new home in MacGregor. Mom had several jobs once they moved to town, her last which she was utmost proud of, her long role at her sister and brother-in-law's business, Snaith's Family Fashions and Footwear. Mom sold her home on Hampton Street and moved to Beaver Creek Villa, where she enjoyed many years. Mom was such a hard working, energetic person. She volunteered on many committees over the years, took pride in leading the Archives and publishing the set of MacGregor and District history books. She had a talent for gardening, sewing, canning, baking and entertaining. She also took pride in her, as she called it, "pin money" with her egg and chicken sales. In 2002 we moved Mom into Winnipeg for better care and to be closer to her. Her first stay was at The Rosewood, then on to the Lions Personal Care Home where she resided for 10 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Mamie, her son Terry, sons-in law, Don Bauming and John Mallin, and our dear dad Doug. She is survived by her daughter Betty, Dale (Sonia), Ray (Carrie) and Leah (Ray); daughter Cindy, Kevin (Caroline) and Michael (Kyleen); and daughter-in-law Arlene, Ryan (Mac) and Reid (Kim); as well as her great-grandchildren, and her only sister, Muriel Snaith. After Ed and Mamie passed, Mom and Dad had many happy years in Mesa, Arizona. They also loved camping, horse races and baseball tournaments. A huge thank you to the staff at The Lions Manor for their kindness and care of Mom for the last 10 years, and also to her steadfast pen pal and friend, Evelyn Alderson. We all love and will miss you Mom, Gram, Aunty, sister and friend!
