HAROLD KELVIN (KELLY) BROWN
Born: Dec 27, 1956
Date of Passing: May 22, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD KELVIN (KELLY) BROWN December 27, 1956 - May 22, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our invincible Kelly Brown; husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and wonderful friend. Kelly was predeceased by his mother Freda Brown, sister in-law Margaret Jablonski, and nephews, Josiah and Israel Smith. He is survived by his loving wife Joanna, sons, Michael and Steven, daughter Lisa (fiancé Adam Dolyniuk), grandchildren, Ethan, Declan and Aria Brown, father Harold William Brown, sister Sheila Lapinski (Robert), in-laws, and numerous nephews and nieces. Kelly endured extreme hardships for much of his adult life, mainly because of kidney disease, but his illness never defined him. He was a courageous man with inspiring strength who beat the odds time and time again. Not surprisingly, many would describe him as the proverbial cat with nine lives. During those lives, with an incredibly tenacious and entrepreneurial spirit, Kelly owned and operated several businesses. In so doing he employed many individuals who became friends and like his family, they will never forget his humour and love of so much in life, especially his wife and children (though drag racing ranked high on his list). We will so miss hearing his stories and seeing him "hold court" at Spanky's, but we are comforted in the knowledge that he is in the hands of our Saviour and that we will undoubtedly be reunited. Kelly, Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean we'll miss you, until we meet again. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. Cropo Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Kidney Foundation of Canada and signing your organ donor card.

My sympathies to Kelly's family and loved ones. I spent many years growing up with Kelly through adolescence. Kelly was quite a character and he and our mutual friends shared all the experiences of young men growing up. It was quite a time. I met and knew Kelly, his mother, father and sister. I had spoken with Kelly occasionally over the many years that passed since those times and he seemed the same guy I had always known. He will be missed. - Posted by: David Hughes (Friend) on: May 28, 2018

My heart goes out to Joanna ,Micheal, Steven and Lisa ... Very sad that Kelly is gone but he will never be forgotten . I met Kelly in the early 80's thru his restaurants and drag racing . He always had time to talk and offer his wisdom in business as well as life . Kelly always made you feel like family . Always had lots of laughs with Kelly even when he wasn't 100% because he wood always look beyond . I spent a lot of time in gimli at the race track and have lots of video of Kelly racing . I've a picture of my son when he was little standing in the cockpit of Kelly's dragster on a wall I'm my house . Loved to have coffee with Kelly and listen to all the stories from his start in business and racing careers. He must be setting up the next Bo Diddleys or Spankys Pizza in heaven getting the tables ready so we can all be with him again ... Such a great guy . Till we meet again - Posted by: Victor young and family (friend ) on: May 26, 2018

Sorry to hear this news of Kelly’s passing. He gave me my first part-time job as a delivery driver at Niakwa pizza when I was 16 years old. I am now 50. He was always a real good guy. Over the years I would run into him in the community or at Spankys and he would always come and say hello and chat, just a real friendly guy. Condolences to his family, R.I.P. Condolences to Joanna, Mike, Steven, and Harold. He was a good friend. We would sit and talk for hours about drag racing. I and his friends truly miss going to Spanky's for morning coffee. (usually turned into lunch). Friday lunch time there was always a group of his racing friends. Especially the Xmas lunch that Kelly prepared complete with turkey and all the fixins'. He will be sadly missed by many of the friends in the drag racing community. - Posted by: Rich Bedford. (Friend.) on: May 26, 2018
