MARILYN BYLE (nee ELKE) On Friday, May 18, 2018, Marilyn Byle, aged 67, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Portage La Prairie, MB, on March 11, 1951, and lived most of her life in Winnipeg. Left to forever cherish Marilyn's memory are her loving partner Norman Hrynko; sister Sharon; her children, Jeremy (Abby), Deja (Albert); grandchildren, Talia, Logan, Livia and Reid, also many extended family members including, Peter (Debbie), Doug (Kim), Karlie, Chase, Tim and Hailey, and so many, too numerous to name, wonderful friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Irene Elke (nee Fredbjornson) and brother Kenneth Elke. Marilyn earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree and worked as a truly caring and devoted advocate for families and children with Winnipeg Child and Family Services for most of her career. She was a loving and compassionate person who cherished her family and friends, and was always there when you needed her. Marilyn was feisty and sharp as a tack, had a wicked sense of humour with a side of sarcasm, and loved a good chat with a glass of wine to go with it! In compliance with Marilyn's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I had the pleasure of working with Marilyn for the past 23 years on two different teams. She is a very caring, compassionate woman, a real beautiful lady. I will miss her beautiful smile and sense of humour. Rest in Peace Marilyn. xoxo Dianne - Posted by: Dianne Lavich (Co-worker/friend) on: May 27, 2018

  • I have had the joy of working with my Mare for 18 years and most recently shared an office with her for the last three. Mare was the type of friend one could only wish for as she was a loyal and true friend through thick and thin. We stuck beside each other through tough times and I knew she always had my back. Mare loved her Salsbury House Nips so one day we went there for lunch, we had just done our cpr training recently and were talking about it, all or a sudden out of no where the lady in the next booth to us dropped face first in her soup! Of course Marilyn and I jump up to help her as no one else was. The poor lady wasn’t breathing, we laid her down I started cpr, mare called 911 and in Marilyn fashion calmed her poor scared husband down. The lady started breathing, the paramedics came quickly and Mare and I carried on eating as if nothing happened. Just another crazy day with Marilyn. This world was a much better place just because you were in it my dear friend. I will miss you forever and I will love you always To Norm, Deja and Jeremy and your families I send you my Love and prayers Tracy oxoxo - Posted by: Tracy Sanderson (Friend and Colleague ) on: May 26, 2018
