DOROTHY MABLE WILLMS (nee SMITH) October 2, 1929 May 19, 2018 Beloved wife to Don, loving mother to Colleen Neufeld and Lisa Goodspeed; sister to Fred, Leonard, Bernard and Gladys; grandma to Zanna and Sydney; mother-in-law to Derrick and Chris; friend to many. Dorothy lived a full and courageous life. She was blind, yet nothing escaped her attention. As her stay-at-home mom duties ended, Dorothy returned to school in her late 50s and re-entered the federal government workforce. An independent woman, she loved her travels across Canada, Hawaii, Germany and France. She loved going out to eat with family and friends. She loved her various cats over the years - Beau, Muppet, Lucky and Misty. She loved poetry and music, especially music that told a story. She loved sailboats and going for drives around southern Manitoba. Dorothy's life exemplified kindness, gratitude and a quiet strength that was inspirational to others. The family would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa and the Saint Boniface Hospital, for the gentle care she received in the last months of her life - especially the dialysis unit where she spent many hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's name would be gratefully received at the Saint Boniface Hospital Foundation. "I took a day to search for God, And found Him not. But as I trod By rocky ledge, through woods untamed, Just where one scarlet lily flamed, I saw His footprint in the sod." Bliss Carman E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
