LINDA FERLAND SANGSTER (MAMA) October 24, 1953 - May 30, 2018 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, sister-in-law and friend, Linda Sangster (nee Ferland), on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Linda was born on October 24, 1953 in Grand Rapids, Manitoba. She lived most of her life in Grand Rapids, but left home to Cranberry Portage to complete her education. When Linda returned home she started working as a secretary at Grand Rapids School, where she "won the bet" and snagged her husband, vice-principal Jim. Linda and Jim were married on March 24, 1979. They lived in numerous places before settling in Grand Rapids, where Linda got her job at the Pelican Landing as an assistant manager, where she worked until her passing. Linda was a very active member in the community and liked to volunteer her time. She loved spending time with all the children in her life. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 39 years, Jim; her daughter Sheila (Nicky); son Shawn (Jacquie); stepson Scott (Holly); adopted daughter Devon (Ben); grandchildren, Danielle, Mary (Josh), William (Justine), Nikki, Kenton, Lynden, Peyton, and Grayson; great-grandchildren, Rosie, Izareia, Nikoli, Rhyn, Teklia, Paizley and baby Lee; mother-in-law Francis Sangster; brothers, Harry (Jan), William (Orma), Wilfred; sisters, Adeline, Yvonne, Rita (Lloyd), Alice (Glen), Ann, Norma (Don), Jackie (Patrick), and Heather; her numerous nieces and nephews; auntie Dorothy (Bert); uncles, Ernie (Maryanne), and Herman (Patricia). Her closest friends, Ann Robinson, Malinda Fourre and Violet Pranteau; her travelling companions, Suzette, Veronica, Madeline, Sally, and Cora; her co-workers at the Pelican Landing; her special little friend Neveah Beardy and her other many, many friends in Grand Rapids and Chemawawin. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Sheila Ferland; grandchild Baby Sangster; nieces, Amanda and Cassandra; father-in-law Don Sangster; grandparents, Roderick and Edith Turner, Baptiste and Marie Ferland; uncles, Adelard, John, Stan, William and Arthur; aunts, Louise and Agnes. The family would like to thank the staff of Health Science Centre, who made mom's stay as comfortable as possible and to the many visitors who stopped in to see her while she was there. Wake Service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. Services will take place at the Roman Catholic Parish Hall, Grand Rapids, Manitoba with Father Noel officiating. • My condolences to Mr. Sangster and to all of Linda’s family and friends. I met the Sangsters when I was teaching at Chemawawin School in 1999-2000.
