Original obituary: It was with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, Dad, Pepere and Great-Grandpa Roy Chartrand Sr., on June 10, 1998, at the Misericordia Hospital, at the age of 71. Roy was born on November 29, 1926 in St. Laurent, MB. He was a fisherman, trapper and construction worker all of his life. Roy and Hilda would have been married 50 years in July, 1998. Roy left to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Hilda and 13 children, Donna (Albert) McKay, Roy (Margaret), Joy (Clarence) Carriere, Roger (Roberta), Danny, Caroline (Joe Molnar), Jackie (Jim Trenchard), Marilyn (Stuart) Lockhart, Walter (Teresa), Julien (Carmen Combot), Della (Rob Cheswick), Michael (Karen McKay), Kelly (Michelle); 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also left his sisters, Valerie Tremblay, Gloria St. Goddard; brothers, John, Albert, Pat; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by infant daughter Marie (February 22, 1955); two grandsons, parents, Marcelline (Carriere) and Ovila Chartrand; brothers, Cyril, Leo, Joseph and sister Bertha. Prayers and funeral were held Saturday June 13, 1998 at the St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Mare officiating. Pallbearer was Darryl Chartrand. Husband, Dad, Pepere and Great-Grandpa, we will always love you, miss you and you will always be in our hearts.
