I still think about Roy ever now and again. He was such a good young man. You could tell that, even from a distance. I was a year or two older, from the neighborhood. I'll never forget, was taking the Academy bus, and read in the paper that he had passed. I don't think I was ever so shaken, then or since. The world lost a very graceful human being. His passing took something from me, I am sorry to say, that I haven't quite been able to replace. Except, I suppose that's one of the great quiet lessons of existence.
