GAIL MARY ELIZABETH LEWKO (nee WARDLEY) Suddenly, on Friday, June 15, 2018, with her family by her side, Gail Mary Elizabeth Lewko (nee Wardley) went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce her passing. Gail leaves behind her loving husband of over 50 years, Hank Lewko, sister Yvonne, and children, Cory, Christy (Brent) and Kurtis (Denise) who all loved and cherished her so much. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Muriel and Ronald Wardley. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Dakota, Chelsey, Tye, Felicia, Grace and Cael. She made many trips to Alberta to see Dakota, Chelsey and Tye and cherished every moment of her time with them. She had an especially close bond with her grandson Cael and loved watching him play hockey and soccer in rain or shine. Gail had a special bond with Felicia (who inherited her red hair) and Grace and never missed a dance recital. Gail grew up in Saskatoon, SK and it was there she began her career in hair dressing. She became a very skilled hair dresser and was known for winning many competitions. It was in Saskatoon where she met her husband Hank, and they were married in 1967. They moved to Winnipeg to raise their family and soon Gail was busy with three little children. She put everything into raising her kids, sacrificing all of her time to make sure they made it to hockey, soccer, music lessons, friend's homes and school. Gail was a devoted wife to Hank taking care of him so lovingly after he had a stroke. She was also an amazing caregiver to her sister Yvonne after their mother passed away. Gail spent many winters in Hawaii and developed many close friends that she considered her Hawaiian Ohana. She was such a friendly and caring person and she made many new and lasting friendships wherever she went. Gail loved to have friends over and cook large meals so everyone could enjoy each other's company, Gail cherished her friends. Gail was actively involved in the Church and was a devout Christian and example to all. She participated in many church activities, and was always praying for her friends and family. It was through East Kildonan Baptist Church where Gail and Hank volunteered to help support a Vietnamese family. She would always talk about her Vietnamese kids and was very proud of them. They have always lovingly called her "Mom Gail". Gail loved to sell Fifth Avenue Jewelry and loved to show off all the different new styles. She made a lot of great friends and always looked forward to the annual gathering in Moose Jaw. Gail has left a lasting impression on all the lives she touched. We will greatly miss her caring touch, loving smile and her genuine love for people. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their outstanding care. We will be celebrating Gail's life in a memorial service on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. Light lunch and refreshments to follow at Glen Eden. Funeral services provided by Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • To the Lewko family Our deepest condolences to you all from the bottom of our hearts. It is devastating news to hear of her passing..... I have very fond memories of Spending Christmas with auntie Muriel , Yvonne and Gail, as a young child. We always had so much fun. Gail did my hair when I was married and Cory was my ring bearer . So much time has passed since then! I moved to Alberta and lost touch with Gail and Hank, but my sister Becky kept me informed of special events and family milestones . My heart goes out to the family and all the friends and relatives that were close to Gail. I am unable to attend the funeral but send my deepest sympathies to Hank and the Lewko family! • We are all saddened here at Fifth Avenue Collection. Gail will be mourned by so many people for so many reasons. For almost 24 years we watched her grow into a good business woman while still being one of the kindest, loyal people you would ever meet. Gail was diverse. She was glamorous yet natural. She was aggressive yet kind. She always made you feel good when you spoke to her. Gail's true love was her family. Her jewellery friends from all over the world will miss her. - Posted by: Dale Pinel (Friend) on: Jun 20, 2018
