HENRY DAVID SAWATZKY October 3, 1932 - June 15, 2018 With sadness, the family of Henry David Sawatzky announces his passing on June 15, 2018, at his home, at the age of 85. He will be remembered with love by his wife, Mary Sawatzky; his son Roger and Pamela Sawatzky and their children, his daughter Brenda and Don Paetkau and their children, his son Gordon Sawatzky and Tara Forshaw and their children, along with his sister Hulda Nickel. He was predeceased by his birth parents, Hazel Sveund and Oscar Seneseth; his adoptive parents Jacob C. and Anna Sawatzky; and his sister Nettie Olfert. Henry was born on October 3, 1932 in Regina, SK. His family also lived in Manitoba and Ontario. He married Mary Harder on May 15, 1960 in Winkler, MB. After a variety of short-term jobs, in June 1960 he started as a concrete and asphalt inspector with the Manitoba Department of Highways and remained with them until he retired in 1993. Henry loved classical and sacred music, together with visiting and going out for coffee with friends. Henry arranged for the donation of his body to the "Service after Death" program with the Human Anatomy and Cell Sciences Department at the University of Manitoba. A memorial service will be held July 10, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford St., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice.
