MAUDIE JEAN JESSIMAN SEARLE 1923 - 2018 On May 27 in Trenton, ON, Maudie died peacefully with her sons, Stewart and David by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart A. Searle and by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Scarlett Jessiman. She is survived by her sons and by her sisters, Patricia and Grace (Bill Treidler), her brothers, William, Ian (Rae) and Duncan (Judy), her grandchildren, Ashleigh Searle Picq, Cameron Searle and Amy Searle McCullough and her great-grandchildren, Stella, Will, Emma Grace, Ellie Jane, Emerson and Amelia. In her youth, Maudie was a champion speed skater and was a leader in all her clubs and activities. During the war her intelligence, perspicacity, character and strength in decision making made her invaluable to her father's company, P and D Transfer Ltd. Following the war, and prior to her marriage to Stewart, Maudie entered university where she became Lady Stick in Home Economics. She was known for being very loyal to her friends and for her thoughtful kindness and generosity to her nieces and nephews. In retirement Maudie and Stew moved from Winnipeg to Sea Island, GA, later moving to Charlottesville to be near Stewart and his wife, Mary Buckle Searle. After her husband passed in 2014, Maudie decided to return to Canada, settling in Trenton near David and his wife, Christine Winiarz Searle.
