DONALD ADAM MURRAY June 27, 1931 - May 26, 2018 Donald Adam Murray, 86, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, passed away on May 26, 2018 at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC, surrounded by his family. Don was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Ruth. He leaves behind daughters Donna Bolton of Nanaimo, Patricia Erickson (Edward) of Kamloops, son William Murray (Brigette) of Tennessee; granddaughters, Alexis Bolton (Tim) of North Carolina, Alisha Rodham of Black Creek, BC, Kailyn Murray of Vancouver and Jacquelyn Murray of Tennessee; and grandsons, Murray Erickson (Kara) and Kyle Erickson of Kamloops and Ian Bolton of Vancouver. Don was born June 27, 1931 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He and twin brother Ronald (deceased 1999) served in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals Branch of the Canadian Armed Forces between 1949 and 1953. After his discharge from the Army, Don moved to Winnipeg where he met and married his loving wife, Ruth Leonora (nee Kaatz) in April, 1953. Don was the consummate loving and caring husband and father. Don was loved by many he met during his careers in business and banking, but Don found his true passion in life in the Masonic Order and with the Shriners. Dad was a well-respected Mason, admired for his dedication to his Lodge, also the Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite Masons and the Khartum Shriners. For over 60 years he served in many executive positions and was recognized and admired for his hard work and love of the craft. Some of his accomplishments included receiving 50 year and 60 year service awards from the Grand Lodge of Manitoba. He was also recognized as a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was given the honour of Recorder Emeritus in 2007 from Khartum Shriners. A celebration of Don's life will be held at The Khartum Shrine Centre, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.

  • We spent some time with Don last year in BC and I was fortunate enough to get in a few good games of crib with him. He was always eager to get in a friendly and competitive game.
