COURTNEY BETH TKACHUK June 4, 1978 - June 25, 2018 With gratitude for the sparkle in our lives, we sadly share the passing of our Courtney Beth Tkachuk, surrounded by her family. Courtney was born at St. Boniface Hospital on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon, and she proved that Sunday's child is full of grace. She grew up in Windsor Park and attended General Vanier Elementary School and graduated from Windsor Park Collegiate. A few days following Courtney's birth, her dad planted a basswood tree in our front yard always to be known as Courtney's tree. It is now in full bloom. Courtney not once missed a Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day or Father's Day to see her mom and dad; and always made a New Year's Eve midnight phone call from wherever she was. Employed by CancerCare Manitoba Foundation with the work title of "Director of First Impressions", Courtney had a special knack for dealing with people, always putting their issues ahead of her own and always be uplifting. She was our hero. Left to cherish her life are fiancé Joel, mom and dad Niki and Peter, brother David with wife Kim, treasured nephews Riley and Dylan as well as her circle of friends far and wide. She touched all of our lives. Our deepest appreciation to St. Boniface Hospital ICU for their expertise and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass celebrating Courtney's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd., with Fr. Phil Daley officiating. Refreshments following. A private interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations in memory of Courtney may be made to Canadian Blood Services or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. • I am so heartbroken to hear about Court. My 2 years in Winnipeg was made much much brighter with her in my life, and has been ever since. Courtney and I stayed in touch over the years and I loved making her go on FaceTime with me so I could tell her how beautiful she always looked, despite her hilarious comebacks. Our friendship spanned over the past 10 years as one of my best friendships I had. Court was always so happy and honest and even though we were full blown adults it didn’t stop her from saying things like “well that’s poopy” or “rut roe” (instead of uh-oh). I love Courtney dearly and I am so sorry that she is no longer with you. I can tell you that she spoke of her Mom and Dad with the most love and admiration I’ve ever seen from anyone, and Joel was her saving grace. No one in Court's life felt unloved while around her, and I’m going to miss that most of all. I would love to fly down to Winnipeg at the end of this month to pay my respects if that is okay. As much as it breaks my heart that I can’t be there for the funeral, I will be there shortly after. My deepest sympathies. Love Amanda. - Posted by: Amanda Omelchuk (Friend) on: Jul 01, 2018

  • We became neighbors in 1979. Our children were the same age, Peter and I shared the same given and middle names and our families immediately became best friends. Although we moved away we visited almost every year, and Courtney became our second daughter. She was an absolute princess, a wonderful lady and a person who anyone would be proud to call their daughter - we are. She is in a beautiful place now, one that she so deserves. We will miss you. - Posted by: Peter & Gina Netherway (Life long best friends and neighbors) on: Jul 01, 2018

  • I had the pleasure of working with Courtney at Grower Direct. We had so many laughs over the silliest things. She always spoke or told stories of her family. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I'm in shock. Such a beautiful, down to earth, funny woman. I will miss running into you in the oddest of places. Rest In Peace my friend! To her family: May all the good times, memories and laughs get you through this most difficult time. - Posted by: Autumn (Friend) on: Jun 30, 2018
