Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCIANO FOIANESI December 13, 1931 - July 2, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Father, Father-in-Law, Grandfather (Nonno) and Brother, Luciano Foianesi, at the age of 87. Luciano was predeceased by his beloved wife Adele (Miriam) Foianesi (nee Marabotti), father and mother (Livio and Yolanda Foianesi) and his siblings, Alfiero, Edda, Lido and Carla. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Livio (Helen) and Alessandro (Kristin), grandchildren, Siena, Luca and Matteo, his brother Pier Luigi Foianesi (Virginia) and sister Giovanna Bertolotti (Gianni). Luciano was born on December 13, 1931 in Foiano della Chiana, Italy. He was the fifth of seven children. He met the love of his life, Adele, and they were married in October, 1965. Luciano and Adele had two children, Livio in 1966 and Alessandro in 1969. Luciano started his career as an aviation engineer in the Italian Air Force. After a few years, he continued his career in Brazil then back to Milan, Italy where he worked with Alitalia. Luciano and Adele with their son Livio, arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 29, 1967 on board the Olympia. They settled temporarily in Fort William and within months moved to Winnipeg where he started working with Transair. He retired with Canadian Airlines after 35+ of service. Luciano loved to travel to exotic places, immersing himself in the culture and food. On their honeymoon, Luciano and Adele travelled to Turkey. He spent many summers in Elba Island with his family and spent winters in Cuba. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and mushroom picking. He also loved to cook and was a sharp card player. Luciano loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them at their soccer games, fencing practice and dance recitals. He was a sports fanatic spending hours watching Italian soccer, Formula One, and recently the World Cup. He will be missed for his sense of humour, insightful anecdotes, proverbs, stories and political banter. A celebration in Luciano's honour will be held at the Caboto Centre on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Luciano will be buried in Italy alongside his beloved wife, Adele (Miriam) this summer.
